Here at American Legend Homes, we understand that keeping your family safe and healthy is priority number one. With everyone's busy schedules, it can be hard to make sure the kids are getting the right amount of activity and nutrition every single day.
According to the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics designated October as National Child Health Month beginning in 1992. The initiative is to increase awareness of the importance of preventive health care for children.During National Child Health Month, we want to share some creative ways to keep your kids healthy and active throughout this fall!
Children are known for being little balls of energy. They have a constant need to be moving and occupied. The distraction of technology however, both at home and at school, has made it challenging to keep kids physically active rather than focused on video games, TVs and phones. There are tips, and fun ideas, to keeping the screens down and the kids up and moving. Plan a fun family bike ride and stop somewhere along the way for a picnic. Set up a scavenger hunt in the backyard, find a community hiking trail for a family hike, or challenge the kids to a freeze dance after school.
Keeping kids active is just part of keeping them healthy! While kids are often drawn to sugar and salt and junk food in general, try to keep those things in moderation. Kids aren’t normally drawn to vegetables so one creative way to change this is to make morning smoothies for them! Combining fresh fruit, carrots and spinach in a smoothie will be a yummy treat in the morning and the fruity taste will mask anything “healthy.” And the kids will love having a smoothie before school.
American Legend Homes understands the importance of healthy kids and healthy families. Child Health Month is a perfect time to get your kids in a regular routine of staying active and healthy. So grab the kids and a smoothie and go play in this wonderful fall weather!
