February, the most romantic month of the year because of Valentine’s Day, is also National Wedding Month. Did you know that 2.4 million couples get married in the U.S. every year? And while summer months are the most popular for weddings, about 16,000 couples get married on February 14 every year!
If you are a new homeowner AND newly married, you may have items from your wedding ceremony and reception that are stored in your attic or garage. Why not incorporate items from one of the happiest days in your life into everyday home décor? Or if you’re planning your wedding, plan ahead and purchase items you can reuse in your home!
Here are a few tips on how to reuse wedding décor in your home from the design experts at American Legend Homes:
Candles: Using mason jars as candle holders means you’ll have plenty of glasses for your next backyard barbecue. And candle sticks can always be used on holiday tables and fireplace mantles.
Lighting: Lanterns can be reused to line your walkway and porch when you have guests over for dinner. Fairy lights are perfect for backyard soirees and holiday decorations.
Wine bottles: Ask the bartender at your reception to save the empty wine bottles and use those for crafts. Use them to make a DIY birdfeeder for your backyard and bud vases for your tablescapes. Make a netted bottle to complement a beachy or nautical theme or even use them to make a colorful chandelier!
Signage: Chalkboards announcing the bride and groom at the wedding can be reused in your new kitchen for grocery or “to do” lists, for encouraging quotes or welcome messages when you have guests over!
Centerpieces: Instead of floral centerpieces on your wedding tables, consider succulents. They have a longer life, can be incorporated into your home décor and can often be replanted in your garden.
Artwork for the walls: Frame one of your wedding invitations, along with some dried sprigs from your wedding bouquet, in a shadow box. And use your wedding photos to create a gallery wall in your new home!
A lot of time and effort (and money!) goes into planning a wedding. Many of the items you purchased for your special day can not only be reused but can serve as a reminder of what will forever be a wonderful memory.
