Temperatures are finally starting to warm up and locals know what that means: put up the snow boots and dust off the hiking boots! Glorious outdoor adventures are just one of the reasons so many people choose to live in Colorado. And all of our American Legend Homes communities are close to several trails...so how do you choose? We’re here to help! Here are some of our favorites:
Aurora: Aurora’s natural landscapes and Rocky Mountain views mean lots of beautiful hiking trails to choose from. The Wetlands Loop and Creekside Trail at Star K Ranch are known as “hidden gems.” These trails are short and perfect for beginners. Check them out and enjoy wandering through the wetlands and stunning cottonwood forest! If you’re looking for a longer trail, try the 14-mile Sand Creek Regional Greenway. It will give you a glimpse into Colorado’s natural landscape.
Berthoud: The Berthoud Pass to Stanley Mountain is an intermediate trail that offers amazing views of the Winter Park area and the Continental Divide Trail in both directions! And hiking there now means glimpses of beautiful spring flowers.
Loveland: It’s easy to be one with nature in Loveland with miles and miles of trails. Red-tailed hawks, colorful wildflowers and soaring rock formations are just some of the stunning natural features the Devil’s Backbone trail features. Bobcat Ridge features ponderosa pines, red rock cliffs and wildlife like elk and wild turkeys along with several trail options.
Timnath and Windsor: The Poudre River Trail is easily accessible for residents of both Timnath and Windsor. This trail is the ideal escape from the city and lets hikers enjoy the natural beauty of the “meandering river and the stands of cottonwood trees and wetland meadows that line its banks.” The trail is 21 miles of paved pathways and is ideal for beginners. There are several trailheads. Eastman Park in Windsor is one of our favorites because it’s a great place for a picnic! And if you’re looking for dog-friendly trails in the area, check out this useful website.
Colorado is the perfect setting for outdoor enthusiasts. And your American Legend home offers the perfect post-hike setting to relax and recuperate after an adventure on the trails. Drop your hiking gear in your mudroom or finished basement, soak in your spa-like tub or prop your feet up in the media room with a movie. Enjoy!
