While Memorial Day is the unofficial kick-off to summer, it truly begins June 21.
And, if you’re ready to leave the comfort and AC of your home, American Legend Homes has done the hard work for you and rounded up our top picks for “fun things to do” this summer.
We know it can be hard to pull your kids away from their gaming consoles during summer. So, why not make it educational by visiting the National Video Game Museum in Frisco. This is an easy drive for our American Legend residents who live in The Grove. The National Video Game Museum is a place where video game enthusiasts can learn about the industry’s rich history, where it’s heading and play some vintage video games. Not only is it educational and fun but it is also air-conditioned! A win-win for parents and kids!
When you’re ready for a little more adventure head to Hidden Park Cove, also in Frisco and just minutes from all of our communities. The park sits on 470 acres with activities like boating, fishing, camping, hiking, skiing and so much more. A full-service marina is located on the premises along with several perfect spots for picnicking or nature watching. For those wanting a little more of a challenge, enroll the kids in surfing or paddleboard lessons at DFW Surf. Check out Rockin' S Bar and Grill for lunch or dinner. They have a variety of food and drinks that will keep everyone happy.
Texas summers can be brutal so if you want an indoor option check out the Electronic Gamebox at Grandscape. Conveniently located in The Colony and about two minutes from our Castle Hills community, this immersive gaming experience is the company’s first location in the US. You can choose your adventure as you enter an interactive digital room that features projection mapping, touch screens, motion tracking and 360-degree surround sound. Hyper-immerse yourself and up to five of your closest friends in a variety of game options like the challenging Psychedelic Mansion offering a peek into a “real” CIA training program. Search for other life forms with a “Ticket to Mars” or try to survive the scrutiny of extra-terrestrials in the “Alien Aptitude Test.” With a variety of gaming options, it will be “virtually” impossible for the kids not to have a good time.
When you grow tired of our resort-style community pools (as if that could ever happen!) take the kiddos over to Hawaiian Falls. Residents near our Tribute community love cooling off at this family-friendly waterpark. The park has attractions for all ages, just remember to check The Shaka Meter. The Shaka Meter rates the park water slides and attractions from 1 to 5. One being easy and calm to a five meaning intense or thrilling.
If you rather stay close to home, all American Legend Homes communities are equipped to keep you and your family entertained. You can always head to the community pool and play Marco Polo with the neighbors, create a scavenger hunt through the neighborhood (we’ve all seen Cooper and the Castle Hills Gang), or enjoy the parks and green spaces. Just remember it’s summertime and the livin’ is easy, or at least should be!
