Now that we are building American Legend Homes in Hilltop 55+ at Inspiration, we want to explore some activities to do in the surrounding area. The active adult community is located in Southeast Aurora, in Douglas County, just five miles from downtown Parker. And, like all of our Colorado communities, residents here have endless opportunities for entertainment. Crazy Tourist gave us a couple fun ideas.
Douglas County Fair and Rodeo
The Douglas County Fair and Rodeo continues to be a family tradition for the residents of Douglas County, Colorado. Beginning July 31 and lasting through August 8, the rodeo will include 2 entertainment stages, 3 Professional Rodeos, Bull Riding, Expanded Carnival, Antique Tractor-pull, Muttin-bustin, Stick-horse Rodeo, Pancake Breakfast, and 4-H and FFA exhibits - including livestock, general projects and the Jr. Livestock Sale.
Sulpher Gulch Trail
The Sulpher Gulch trail in Riva Ridge Park is hiking and biking trail. For four-and-a-half miles, the trail travels along the Sulphur Gulch onto Cherry Creek Trail. It is a great way to get familiar with the area’s natural surroundings and is perfect for users of any skill level.
Downhill Brewing
Colorado is known for its diverse selection of local craft beers. Parker is no exception. Downhill Brewing showcases a variety of IPAs, pale ales and seasonal beers with creative names like Saturday Nut Fever, Case of the Mondays and Team America Fruit Saison. Visitors can tour the brewery and enjoy pizza on the patio. You can even bring your dog!
Purgatory Cellars
Not everyone is a beer lover, we know. Good thing for Purgatory Cellars! In 2014, the owner came to the United States from Croatia to open a state-of-the-art wine manufacturing facility. These Mediterranean wines are handcrafted using modern techniques and traditional methods from as far back as the 6th century, using grapes from local growers. Visitors can enjoy tastings and tours that allow you to see first-hand how this wine is made. All of the furnishings were handcrafted by the owner in his home country, and he also put together the Old World design and feel of the interior.

For shopaholics, The Parker Shoppes is for you!
